Story behind the song
There are alot of what I call bums out there who get with a woman and exploit all they can out of her. The lyrics start out with a guy wanting to "sing a song" which equates to the pickup line when they first meet, then to " let me cry the blues" trying to get on her sympathetic side, then right out with "baby pay my bills" then when she gets upset he'll come out with "baby sing me a song" meaning now that she's upset he's willing to listen. It is a two way street though and women can be bums too.
