Story behind the song
Matt Sorum and I go way back. All the way back to elementary school actually, when I used to kick his little butt in tetherball. That is, until he went back to Minnesota for the summer and came home over SIX FEET TALL! (braces and afro to boot!) And what do you know? I didn't want to play anymore. :) Matt was legendary for being a scrapper. He was a 10 year old, part Little Rascal, part Dead End Kid, with rhythm! Fast forward several years later to us playing in our first bands together. Matt was picking fights, I was breaking them up! Man, that dude was always "Ready To Rumble!" We'd be just ready to go on and say "where's Matt?" Uh Oh!!:) One gig in particular, we were playing Gazzarri's and his opponent that night, was singer Stephen Pearcy in a band called Mickey Ratt. They would eventually drop the Mickey from their name and be known only as "Ratt." I reminded Matt recently of the time I picked him up when he was living with Jeff Paris when Jeff was writing for the band 'Vixen' and I guess I had just missed saying hi to a couple of the girls by a few minutes. Being so close to the scene of our previous crimes, Matt and I of course ended up frequenting some of our old Hollywood haunts and usual suspects. When we got back to Jeff's house, I remember doubting calling our song "Hold On" (I wrote for my sister, Lisa, whom I LOVE dearly) and Matt saying, "man, every band has a song called "Hold On" don't worry about it, a good song's a "good song!" Thank- you all so very much for your ongoing support, enthusiasm and patience!! We're just about ready to hit record on a new record that we're "extremely excited" about, going to be a fun set/show... "2014" here we go!! ""Let's get Havenized" :)
